We all have seen movies where the robberies have been depicted and the heroes run away with the cash or whatever they steal. Still, casino robberies are something completely different as these places hold millions of dollars of money and no wonder that someone tried to steal their cash. In this article, we bring you the most unusual cases. We will list several cases that happened through modern history so you could try to depict the cases in your head! These were really movie-like actions!
In 1992, Bill Brennan as the long-term casino employee started one of the biggest armed robberies that stayed unsolved to this day, where the best thing was that no one was injured. While you might think that he tried to pull something with the casino minimum deposit $10, Bill simply walked out for his lunch break and never came back to the casino. He went out with a bag on his shoulder, full of $500,000 in 10 dollars bills and chips! He remained on the FBI’s most-wanted list to this day, but the case was never solved and people rumor that he started a new life with all that cash!
When it comes to gambling, you definitely want to play in Las Vegas as it is the home of gambling. The Bellagio robbery was performed in 2000 when Jose Vigoa, Luis Suarez and Oscar Sanchez , where Jose was already previously involved in a similar case with armored truck robberies so he did not even bother to wear a mask. As soon as cameras recorded, police recognized him. The trio tried to steal around $160,000 from the cash counter but not long after they tried to run, police caught them. All of them have gotten several years-long sentences and stayed a few years behind the bars, but after that, they had never did similar things again nor they tried to sit around the table to gamble.
Another similar case happened the same year in the same city, but the thing was that the same man committed three robberies before getting caught. The first two attempts were not successful as the security guards managed to prevent him, but eventually, he did strike for the third time, got luck and managed to get off with $30,000. He was Reginald Johnson. During the case, he shot and injured a security guard but was arrested not long after and sentenced to 130 years of prison! The game was over for him, but he was remembered as a manic person that did not want to confess his crimes.
In 2004, two Serbian man and a girl from Hungary managed to win and pulled of the movie-like heist, which ended up well for them once they got arrested and brought to the court. They have been playing roulette for two days and over the course of their gambling, they had won GBP 1.3 million of cash. Later on, the security cameras recorded they were cheating. They had been using their smart phones that were connected to the computers that used an algorithm that calculated and predicted the upcoming numbers on the wheel and they were communicating all the time so men could place bets. The experts thought it would be impossible to build such a system, but it was possible – even the court in the UK ruled they did not do anything illegal and allowed them to keep their money.
